Just confirmed in his office as CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey lays off 336 employees

Jack Dorsey, Twitter's new CEO announced the dismissal of 336 employees of the social network. For the new CEO, Twitter now has to be more nimble and focus on its most profitable activities.

Faced with perpetually disgruntled shareholders the results of Twitter, we had to take a radical decision. And Jack Dorsey did not hesitate long before taking 8% of all Twitter employees were dismissed on Tuesday 13 October. Twitter boss has sent a letter to employees of the social network Twitter to explain that gain in agility with this decision: "We believe that engineering teams will advance more quickly with smaller teams and more agile." These are indeed mainly engineers and product managers who have been affected by these 336 layoffs.

This wave of redundancies, which will cost between 10 and 20 million for Twitter, is part of a restructuring plan. This should allow the social network to the blue bird to find a certain dynamism, whether in terms of new subscribers, dangerously stagnant since the beginning of the year or in financial terms. If the turnover of Twitter is significant increase since last year (61% from the second quarter of 2014 and that of 2015), his action has meanwhile dropped by 40% during the last six months.

Jack Dorsey, who recently took the head of Twitter, therefore had to meet these poor figures. So we should see the arrival of new products faster on the social network, but also new ways of monetization. Twitter should therefore introduce more or less short-term advertising pre-roll videos, or Moments sponsored by brands. In any case, the dismissals were a big hit with investors since the action of the blue social network has already taken nearly 5% since this morning.
